My first trip to the Canadian rockies was in August 2016 when I flew out to visit my friends Deb and Joel who were living in Edmonton. Deb and I drove up to Jasper from Edmonton and then down the Ice Fields Parkway through Banff and Canmore. While in Jasper though we hiked on the classic Edith-Cavell Meadows trek that provides great views of the Glacier and the surrounding terrain. We saw a marmot on the trail (see pic below) and passed elk that were taller than our SUV on the road in Jasper one evening. It was mind blowing. My old iphone pics from this time hardly do it justice, but here they are.
