Ethical Investing
What are we talking about here?
Let’s take as a starting point the idea that you believe what you do has an impact — and that this impact can be measured, even if it is small. Whether it is actually measured or not is a separate problem.
Second, let us consider that one might invest using not only currency but in other ways. I think about it in terms of time, money and attention. I see these things as the most important resources in my life (not necessarily in that order). If I had to prioritise — and let’s face it, we all do every day — it’s probably more like attention, time and then money (but this varies from individual to individual).
So this leads us to the question of “how can we invest these resources?” and, more broadly, from an ethical investing perspective, “how do we invest them in meaningful ways that create the sort of world — or more specifically the sort of future — we want to live in?”
